A delicious soup with a funny name.

Typically this time of year is when we start planning our trip to Europe to buy merchandise for the coming year's markets.


One thing we look forward to after landing in Amsterdam is heading to La Place for Snert!

Snert or Erwtensoep is a hearty Dutch split pea soup traditionally eaten on New Year's Day.

This soup is also known as a winter soup.


The Dutch believe that the snert should be thick enough that your spoon will stand up in the soup; as with all recipes, you can modify this one to fit your taste.


If you like split pea soup, definitely give this one a try. It is delicious!
